This atmospheric and ambitious Mingus classic, a fascinating combination of blues, bop and swing, was recorded in the summer of 1957. The members of Mingus' sextet here include Clarence Shaw (trumpet) and Bill Evans (piano). Nat Hentoff's perceptive, original notes accompany this re-issue, which also includes bonus alternate takes of two of the original tracks.
